Katy Perry plots next album, does 'MTV Unplugged'



Katy is proud to be following in the footsteps of Nirvana and Lauryn Hill by recording
her own "MTV Unplugged" session.
Perry spoke to The Associated Press about stripping her songs bare, writing scandalous lyrics
and how her next album will make people dance.

The Associated Press: What was the appeal for you in doing "MTV Unplugged"?

Katy Perry: Well the "MTV Unplugged" session was really important, it was kind of like the swan song
of the whole "One of the Boys" record. It was the last real look I wanted to give on the record and show off
some of the songs at their most simple, kind of at their most stripped down, at the skeleton,
at the core of what some of them were written or how they were written.

AP: Your life must be completely different now — it's a whirlwind.

Katy Perry: Yeah I'm definitely getting used to it, or trying; it's difficult.
I don't feel completely different than when I started.
I feel like I have a lot to prove still and I still have that ambition and that drive that I had
when I didn't have any money, or when I didn't know what was going to happen in the future,
if I was going to make it or anything.

AP: With the last album, there was a lot of hype about "I Kissed a Girl" and "Ur So Gay."
Do you feel like you're going to have to have some kind of scandalous angle on a track on the new album?

Katy Perry: I think the "I Kissed a Girl"s and the "Ur So Gay"s were never,
"oh let's see how I can stir up a pot of scandalous," you know.
It was actually just me telling my story and that is how I see the world you know, and that's the kind of funny,
messed- up way I live my life I guess. With a dark undertone, a sarcastic dark undertone,
just everything is kind of that way for me and so I'm sure that'll be a thread in my next record.

“People compare me to Angelina Jolie, and she’s so serious and stoic,”
Megan told the New York Times Magazine.
“I’m the opposite. When I do interviews, I say things that I think are hysterical.
But because we live in a world of sound bites, you’re not allowed to have a sense of humor.
Sarcasm doesn’t translate in print at all. And neither does self-deprecating humor.
I’m not a tigress like Angelina. Of course, people want me to be. But I want to be the contradiction of that.”



While the “Transformers” franchise actress has offered plenty of quotes that would indicate
she is in fact a “tigress,” like once saying she would “eat” Zac Efron,
the actress said sometimes the Megan people read about, is actually someone else entirely.

“When I sit down to talk to men’s magazines, there’s a certain character that I play,”
she told the mag.
“She’s not fully fleshed out — she doesn’t have her own name — but she shows up to do men’s magazine interviews.
There’s something so ridiculous about always being in your underwear in those magazines,
and you know the interview is going to run opposite those pictures. So, there’s a character that talks to all of them.”

Megan said she also isn’t the woman described in the anonymous “Transformers” crew letter,
which surfaced after she compared director Michael Bay to “Hitler” in an interview,
and which suggested she was “thankless, classless, graceless” and an “unfriendly b****.”

The video for Rihanna's "Russian Roulette" is just as eerie as the song itself.
In a preview that aired on German TV and stills that appeared on the fan sites,
the singer is seen drowning, being shot at and imprisoned.
Of course, there are scenes of her sitting at a table with a man seeing who can win the deadly game.



Director Anthony Mandler — who also helmed the singer's "Wait Your Turn" clip —
said the video is the perfect embodiment of the haunting ballad.

"I think that with this song and the meaning of this song and how loaded it all is, no pun intended,
how much imagery and perhaps symbolism that is loaded in this song, the only way to do it was to do something
that was visually challenging,"
he told MTV News about the video, which premieres Friday (November 13) on "20/20."

Mandler thought of the video as a metaphor for Rihanna's very public life in the gossip pages,
as opposed to a direct comment on her February assault by then-boyfriend Chris Brown.

“Girls think I’m a slut, and I’ve been in the same relationship since I was 18.
The problem is, if they think you’re attractive, you’re either stupid or a whore or a dumb whore.
The instinct among girls is to attack the jugular.”

Fox insists that the fast-talking overly sexual persona she’s presented to the media is not her true self.
“I’ve learned that being a celebrity is like being a sacrificial lamb.
At some point, no matter how high the pedestal that they put you on, they’re going to tear you down.
And I created a character as an offering for the sacrifice.
I’m not willing to give my true self up.
It’s a testament to my real personality that I would go so far as to make up another personality
to give to the world. The reality is, I’m hidden amongst all the insanity. Nobody can find me.”

Easton police said a city woman faces prostitution charges
after she was caught having sexual contact with a man
in a church parking lot Saturday night.

Pamela Firman, 41, of 1441 Butler St., was arraigned last night
on charges of open lewdness and prostitution.
She's in Northampton County Prison under $25,000 bail.

At 7:30 p.m., Easton police responded to a 911 call
from someone saying a couple was having sex in the backseat of a car
parked on Lehigh Street. Police spotted the car and said it was parked
in a church lot, but did not identify the church.
Police said both Firman and the man inside the car,
only identified as Robert Piazza, both had their pants undone.

Firman told police the man was paying her for sex.

Lady Gaga unveils Monster Ball dates

Two weeks after the cancellation of her "Fame Kills" tour with Kanye West,
Lady Gaga has announced the details of a solo tour.

Described by Gaga as "the first-ever 'pop electro opera,'" "The Monster Ball" tour
kicks off November 27 in Montreal, Canada, and will hit 16 North American cities
before ending with a two-night stand January 20-21 at New York's Radio City Music Hall.

The pop singer also revealed that "The Fame Monster," an enhanced re-release of her debut album,
will be released November 23. It will feature a second disc with eight new songs, including "Bad Romance,"
which Gaga premiered at the Alexander McQueen show during Paris Fashion Week.

"A message to all my little monsters: 'The Fame Monster' will come out four days before the first live show,"
Gaga said in a statement.
"You have exactly 96 hours to learn all of the lyrics so you can sing along. Dress accordingly."

Shauna Sand sex tape

Shauna Sand is trying to block the release of a hardcore sex tape
she made but says wasn't supposed to be released.

The former Playboy model admitted that the video does exist and that
Vivid Entertainment, which acquired the video via a third party,
has no right to distribute it.
She said she would fight the Oct. 19 release of the DVD.
Vivid.com, however, has already launched a page with clips of Sand
and an unidentified man in action.



The 38-year-old mother of three also said she has "in fact" made "several sex tapes"
over the years.

And what about those kids?
Worried that her ex-husband and father of her girls, Lorenzo Lamas,
would be furious over her raunchy video romp, Sand had to do some damage control.
She calmed Lamas down and made him sign a piece of paper that read:

"I, Lorenzo Lamas, will not seek custody of my minor children with Shauna Sand.
Even in the event of a release of a sex tape with her and her boyfriend.".

And now Shayne Lamas, Sand's former step-daughter, is slamming the blond
for what she claims is a calculated move.
"Isn't that convenient that her tape just happened to be leaked the day
after my show premiered," she said, referring to her family's
new E! reality show, "Leave it to Lamas."
"I just feel bad for my little sisters."
